Development & Support

Overview

Jeremiah Myers, LHFH Resource Development Director, provides an Introduction to our Resource Development department. Watch here.

Lexington Habitat Events: Shamrock Shuffe 3K

Since 2006, we have invited walkers and runners of all ages to join us for the Shamrock Shuffle 3K! It is our largest event of the year and takes place near St. Patrick's Day.

Lexington Habitat Events: Bids 4 Builds

Bids 4 Builds is our annual online silent auction that takes place in the fall. Click here to view this past year's auction.

Lexington Habitat Events: Golf Tournament

Our annual golf outing takes place at the end of summer in memory of former LHFH Board Chair, Pat Smith. This year's tournament will be on August 21, 2023 at Cherry Blossom Golf Club. Learn more about Pat's legacy here and the golf outing here.

Direct Mail

We typically send three mailed pieces to LHFH supporters per year to share our mission and encourage donations. Here are a few examples (click previews to view PDFs).

Our Sponsors

Support from our sponsors makes our mission possible. Companies, faith groups and individuals - at a variety of levels - support our homeownership projects, repair projects and special events. See a list of our homeownership program sponsors here

Volunteer Story

As one of our most dedicated volunteers, Mark Reynolds has photographed our organization's memorable moments since 2014. Mark shares why he volunteers here.

Home Dedications

At the end of each build, we host a home dedication with the family, volunteers, sponsors, board and the LHFH team. The family is presented to their keys to their new home and we celebrate their achievement.

In June 2020, we hosted out first ever virtual home dedication to celebrate Patrick, Stacy and their children achieving homeownership. We hope to get back to celebrating in-person this year. Attending dedications is a wonderful way to connect with our mission.  Watch their virtual home dedication here.

Lexington Habitat ReStore

Overview

LHFH Board Member, Chad Tussey, shares an overview of Lexington Habitat ReStore - our donation center and home improvement store. Watch here

Donated Goods

We accept donations of new and used home goods, appliances, furniture and building materials that meet minimum standards. View what we can and cannot accept here.

Shop Online

We launched an e-commerce site for the first time in 2020. Our online shopping option now features large specialty items, such as our cabinet sets. View our online store here.

Marketing

We drive traffic to the ReStore through a variety of efforts including radio, digital, print, social media and email. Unlike a traditional retailer, the primary focus of ReStore marketing is targeting potential donors rather than shoppers. View examples of our digital ads.

Paint Recycling Program

In 2008, we received a grant to help start a latex paint bulking or "paint recycling" program.  Since then we have bulked over 1,000 batches of paint, saving 122,000+ partial gallons of paint (donated by the community) from the landfill in Lexington. That equates to over 300 tons of material... the weight of three Boeing 757 airplanes! The paint is then sold at the ReStore to support the mission of LHFH. Watch here to learn more.

Board Involvement

Board Build Day

In 2019, a group of board members lent a hand on a build site and LHFH board member, Chad Tussey, captured the day. Stay tuned for board build day opportunities in 2022! Watch here.

Board Member Story

Veronica Dean Thacker, LHFH Board Member, shares her "Why Habitat?" story.  Watch here.
