Deconstruction

Are you remodeling or demolishing a home or business?

Lexington Habitat’s trained staff can carefully remove items such as your kitchen cabinets and countertops. Rather than go to the landfill, salvaged materials find a second home through Habitat ReStore. Proceeds from your donation help fund building and repairing homes for your neighbors in need.

Click here to learn more about the Deconstruction process!

Volunteer

(If you are looking for ways to volunteer on a Habitat build site, please click here for more information.)

Volunteering at the ReStore is a fun way to make a difference in your community without swinging a hammer or getting your boots muddy. Not only do ReStore volunteers help Habitat for Humanity build affordable homes in Lexington, but they also keep our community clean and green by diverting more than 6,000 pounds of reusable material out of the waste stream every day! New ReStore volunteers must schedule an orientation prior to their first shift.

Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities are available from 9:30am to 7:30pm Monday through Saturday. Please consider making a commitment of at least (2) four hour shifts per month. ReStore volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer without a parent or guardian or 14-15 years old with the accompaniment of a parent or guardian. Small group opportunities are also available. To learn more about ReStore volunteer opportunities, call 859-252-2224 Ext. 150 or email restorevolunteers@lexhabitat.org.

ReStore Volunteer Positions

Cashier – Cashiers will operate cash register, help customers check out, answer telephones, and assist with general customer service.

Merchandising – Love to decorate and create displays? Help us create an attractive and organized store. This is a great way to start your involvement at the ReStore!

Receiving and Loading – Assist staff in unloading donations and loading purchases for customers. Strong back and willingness to have fun required!

Hospitality – Volunteers will greet customers, assist in locating merchandise, help load purchases, and provide excellent customer service on the sales floor. If you love interacting with people, this is the position for you!

ReStore Recycled Latex Paint – Assist staff in processing donated paint, and recycle into re-useable paint to be sold to the public. Great opportunity for group and for younger volunteers ages 14 and up!

Deconstruction – Lexington Habitat’s Deconstruction Department can use individual volunteers and groups on an irregular basis to assist with the removal of reusable materials from existing structures. Salvaged materials from such projects are sold in our ReStore.

If you are interested in any of these wonderful volunteer opportunities, contact the ReStore Volunteer Coordinator at 859-252-2224 ext. 150 or at restorevolunteers@lexhabitat.org, or sign up here!
