Meet Kashindi & Binti

It is clear that Kashindi and Binti’s home will be a lively one. The couple and their seven delightful children, Edmond (18), Pridance (15), Samuel (14), Francois (12), Chamuchamu (9), Yohana (6) and Esther (2) are so excited!
The couple is originally from Kazimia in the Democratic Republic of Congo but they were displaced due to violence. After spending 20 years in a refugee camp in Tanzania, they long for a stable place to call their own. “While in Africa, we heard about how people could purchase quality, affordable homes through Habitat,” Binti says. “Now we are one of those families. We are beyond blessed.”
The family has lived in Lexington for nearly six years. Kashindi enjoys his job as a Machine Operater at Montaplast and the children love school. When they are not doing school work, you could most likely find the kids outside playing football and other games. The family also spends their free time learning the Bible and watching TV together. They are also proud to be involved members of their faith community.
Kashindi and Binti are thankful for the wonderful sponsors and all those who will help them build their home and make it possible for them to stand on their own. Kashindi proudly shares that “The children will now see they have a father who is taking care of their needs.”
