Ball Homes Sponsors Lexington Family's Journey to Homeownership

On Tuesday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m., Ball Homes will join Lexington Habitat for Humanity to dedicate the home for Habitat homebuyers Muhamu and Bruno. The celebration will mark an enormous milestone for the soon-to-be homeowners, who can’t wait to move in with their six children and nephew.

Muhamu and Bruno have worked tirelessly to achieve the dream of affordable homeownership. They contributed 500 hours of “sweat equity” through participating on the build site to construct their house and others; attending weeks of homebuyer classes focused on financial literacy, home repairs, and more; and representing Lexington Habitat’s homebuyer program in the community. With the support of Ball Homes, who contributed the labor, materials, and funding for this project, they will soon move into their home.

“We are grateful you are helping us build a more comfortable home,” said Muhamu. “We want to say thank you for having a good heart.”

“As one of Lexington’s leading market-rate housing developers, Ball Homes understands the importance of safe, stable neighborhoods for all families,” said CEO Darryl Neher. “Their partnership strengthens our shared commitment to a vibrant, inclusive Lexington, and has helped make it possible for Muhamu, Bruno, and their children to achieve the security of affordable homeownership. We are deeply grateful for their continued support as we work toward a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”

“Ball Homes and Habitat for Humanity have partnered on homes since Habitat began building in Lexington in 1986,” said Human Resources Director Heather Barron. “We are excited to be a part of Muhamu and Bruno’s path to homeownership. We recognize and believe in the good work that Habitat does, and we value every opportunity to support their mission.”

Ball Homes has been making dreams of homeownership come true since 1959. Incorporated by Don and Mira Ball more than sixty years ago, this family-owned business is now operated by the second and third generations of Ball management. The company's first homes were starter homes designed to make homeownership feasible for first responders who were required to live within the city limits. From there it blossomed — in the 1990s they expanded their strong Lexington base into the surrounding Central Kentucky communities.

The celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24th.
