Lexington Habitat for Humanity and Partners Raised the Walls on New Home for Oscar and Grace

LEXINGTON, KY (October 29, 2025) – Yesterday, Lexington Habitat for Humanity and a coalition of dedicated community partners launched the construction of a new home in partnership with future homeowners Oscar and Grace at 748 Harrison Trace. Volunteers, sponsors, and supporters gathered on site for a celebratory build kickoff and wall-raising event, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the family.

The project is made possible through the generosity and partnership of Cowgill, Lexmark, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, Walsh Construction, and St. Paul Parish, all of whom joined forces to support the mission of building homes, communities, and hope in Lexington.

“Every home we build is a testament to what happens when a community comes together in partnership,” said Darryl Neher, CEO of Lexington Habitat for Humanity. “Oscar and Grace’s journey is not just about construction, it’s about compassion, collaboration, and the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live.”

Yesterday’s event also celebrated a major milestone for Lexmark. This is the 30th home they have sponsored with Lexington Habitat for Humanity, a legacy of impact that has helped dozens of families achieve the dream of homeownership.

"Habitat for Humanity builds more than houses — it builds hope, stability and a stronger Lexington community," said Sheri Evans Depp, HR Senior Director for Lexmark, which is now part of Xerox. "Lexmark is proud to have played a small role in that legacy, helping Habitat build 30 homes and transform countless lives.”

Longtime Lexington builder Cowgill also played a key role in the project. “Cowgill is a proud supporter of Lexington Habitat for Humanity’s mission to bring affordable home ownership to our community. Homeownership fosters investment in Lexington and will help establish a strong foundation for Oscar and Grace to build their future on," said Carson Baughman, Director of Development.

Since building its first home in 1987, Lexington Habitat for Humanity has continued to evolve with Lexington’s housing landscape, expanding from traditional single-family homes to include innovative townhome and neighborhood developments, all while remaining steadfast in its mission to create lasting change through affordable homeownership.
